HR Technology Solutions will Flood the Market
HR professionals and organizational leaders will need to be prepared to collaborate in new ways. Partnerships between the CIO and the CHRO will be critical. Data indicates that the mean number of HR “systems of record” for most organizations is 8! This is a significant opportunity to experiment, fail fast, and innovate in new ways that have implications for employees and external stakeholders.
Governance First
Every system has an analytics component. The value embedded in the data is the creation of information from the data to drive business results. Who should have access to the data? How is data protected? What are the implications of GDPR, and CCPA? Responsibility, ethics, and governance will need to be top of mind in order for organizations to effectively leverage, and in some instances monetize their data. Organizations that understand this will “win,” those that don’t will inevitably be inviting trouble.
The buzz phrase “Employee Experience” (EEUx) will become real as the EEUx merges and becomes indistinguishable from the Consumer Experience (CUx).
Many organizations tout the EEUx as a top priority. There is no universally understood definition. For most, it means understanding what your employees need and treating them with the same care and importance you apply to customers. This is a key distinction. Organizations that can create a consumer-like experience for their employees will find themselves able to leverage new levels of productivity and innovation from their teams. Organizations will begin to see the intersections of the EEUx and how this translates to brand ambassadorship and the innovation pipeline.
Organizations understand target markets, customer segmentation, consumer needs/habits and the products and offerings they like. Focusing equal attention on the employee side of the equation enables organizations to also understand its employee’s journeys and interactions, and what each employee and team needs to be successful.
In many ways, successful organizations will create an EEUx of “one.” Leveraging real-time data about the workforce can enable organizations to offer more customized benefits packages, work experiences and talent practices relative to the “one-size” fits all approach.
Learning is the New Currency
One of the most rapidly expanding segments of technology is in the tools and systems for learning space. Everyone’s role is changing, all the time. Agile learning means embracing learning from not just a learning platform experience, but diving deeply into micro-learning, virtual and augmented reality, human-centered design and design thinking, and agile learning methodologies.
